The bank, based in Toronto, said it had earnings of $1.22 per share. Earnings, adjusted for amortization costs, came to $1.23 per share.
The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.15 per share.
The bank posted revenue of $6.53 billion in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $4.95 billion.
Bank of Nova Scotia shares have risen slightly more than 1 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has risen 13 percent in the last 12 months.
