Barnes & Noble (BKS) said customers who shopped at 63 of its stores as recently as last month may have had their credit or debit card information stolen. The retailer, which operates nearly 700 bookstores, said it detected tampering with a PIN pad device at each of the affected stores, and by Sept. 14 had disconnected all pads at those stores in 9 states, including Calif. and N.Y. Shares fell 0.7% to 15.21.
