Barrick Gold defends practices after New Zealand fund sells stake, WSJ reports

Barrick Gold said it would have liked to speak with NZ Superannuation, a New Zealand government retirement fund, before it sold its stake over the company's mining practices, reports the Wall Street Journal..The fund sold its entire stake worth $1.6M, saying it was uncomfortable with Barrick's approach to disposing of mining waste, as well as its handling of community grievances.
