Baseball fans who appreciate the Oakland Athletics in the late ‘80s, crushing dingers and jokes about steroids just got the surprise of a lifetime. The Lonely Island — a comedy trio featuring Andy Samberg — shocked fans by releasing a visual rap album about the Bash Brothers on Thursday.

That’s right, there’s a full-length visual rap album about Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire. Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone found enough time to get The Lonely Island together to release “The Unauthorized Bash Brothers Experience” on Netflix.

The whole video is roughly 30 minutes long and described as both raunchy and absurd by Netflix.

The Lonely Island also released some shorter music videos on YouTube.

Be warned, however, these songs are extremely NSFW. Listen at your own risk.

The Lonely Island debuted one of the songs last May. At the time, it was assumed this was a one-off song about Canseco and McGwire. Turns out, The Lonely Island had bigger plans.

The entire 30-minute video is worth watching. It’s completely bizarre, and filled with laugh-out-loud moments, fun cameos and a lot of existential dread. There are multiple references to ‘roid rage, androstenedione and being a “freak show of science.”

Even if the style of music isn’t your thing, the subjects and the lyrics are strong enough to at least provide some chuckles to baseball fans.

And if you still can’t bring yourself to enjoy it, just be glad it got made. The Bash Brothers aren’t exactly the most popular thing going on these days. The fact that The Lonely Island was able to convince Netflix this should exist is a huge victory. That the video is actually hilarious is the cherry on top.

Perhaps most importantly, this opens up the possibility of other niche baseball phenomenons to get the same treatment in the future. You know you would watch something similar about the BALCO Congressional hearings.
