New BC Company Has the Solution to Battle Illness in the Office

ecoSCRUB Fights the Spread of Colds and Flu While Saving on Labour Costs

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Feb 19, 2013) - Research has shown that our shared computer keyboards and other electronic equipment at work can be a haven for bacteria and germs. In fact, a 2002 study by the University of Arizona found the average keyboard in an office had 100 times more bacteria than a toilet seat.

This can lead to workers falling ill and costing companies millions in lost hours and paid sick days.

ecoSCRUB hopes to prevent those kinds of loses. The start-up company is the brainchild of 25 year old Richmond resident Kritesh Dewan. A computer expert himself, he realized there is a need for these kinds of services.

"There are very few companies that offer what we do," says Dewan. "After looking at numerous studies we found there is a genuine need for companies to look after their employees by making sure the sensitive computer equipment they use is properly sanitized."

ecoSCRUB doesn''t just protect employees; the company protects your electronic investments.

In addition to reducing employee illnesses, many hardware related computer problems are due to unclean equipment. Dust builds up inside computers over time, which restricts airflow into the sensitive components. Overheating can cause computers to break down, costing businesses millions of dollars in replacements and repairs.

ecoSCRUB started just a year and a half ago as a side business to Dewan''s computer repair firm and has been building a steady clientele.

"When my team is finished, our clients have often said they feel like they have new computers again," asserts Dewan. "This of course prolongs the life of the system as well."

"Studies have also shown that productivity can increase when employees see that the company they work for is proactive in looking after their wellbeing," Dewan says, "In my opinion, money saving plus money making equals win win."

ecoSCRUB is a Lower Mainland based company, specializing in professional electronics cleaning. ecoSCRUB cares about the health and wellbeing of the public, and is motivated and dedicated to providing a clean and sterile workplace environment. They use non-toxic cleaning solutions and techniques that are planet friendly.

Kritesh Dewan grew up in Richmond and is a graduate of the CISY (computer information systems) program at Kwantlen Polytechnic. The budding entrepreneur currently operates a computer repair and service company out of Delta, BC.
