HERNDON, Va. (AP) _ Beacon Roofing Supply Inc. (BECN) on Tuesday reported a loss of $68.1 million in its fiscal second quarter.
On a per-share basis, the Herndon, Virginia-based company said it had a loss of $1.08. Losses, adjusted for costs related to mergers and acquisitions, were 45 cents per share.
The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 11 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 51 cents per share.
The roofing materials distributor posted revenue of $1.43 billion in the period, also exceeding Street forecasts. Ten analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.39 billion.
Beacon Roofing shares have climbed 18% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $37.52, a decline of 23% in the last 12 months.
