BeautyBlender Just Launched a New Product You Weren't Expecting

Beautyblender, the brand that brought you the makeup tool you never knew you needed but now can't live without, has big news: it's launching foundation! You may have never guessed the brand would expand into makeup, but it makes perfect sense, especially considering its founder, Rea Ann Silva, is a celebrity makeup artist. We spoke to the beauty guru herself to get the inside scoop on the new Bounce Liquid Whip Long-Wear Foundation ($40) collection and its inclusive shade range.

"As a makeup artist and beauty entrepreneur, I always told myself that I could not leave this earth without creating foundation," says Silva. "I have been recognized throughout my entire career for perfecting complexions, whether it was color-matching Latina and African American film stars or creating beautyblender for women all over the world. I knew I needed the perfect makeup for the perfect tool, and Bounce is that."

The lightweight, liquid formula—Silva says it was created via a first-to-market HyperWhip process—comes in 32 blended shades spanning light to dark and everywhere in between so every woman can find her true match, which was incredibly important to Silva for two key reasons.

"First: I am known in the makeup artist industry for my work with women of color. There was never the perfect foundation shade for my most of my clients, and I had perfected my blends for them for years, but I know there needed to be more diversity, even in the most subtle of ways," says Silva. "Second: I’m Latina, and for as hard as it is for African American women to find their shades, believe it or not, it's equally as hard for those with olive skin. Our undertones are very different, and for me, I really wanted to build out that 'medium-plus' range of shades to appeal to olive skin tones with red, brown or yellow undertones. So there would be less 'cocktailing' of colors for women with darker skin tones."

It goes on velvety and full-coverage, but you can blend it out with your sponge (or add more water to your sponge) to create a lighter look, and Silva says it lasts up to 24 hours. Although it isn't available in Sephora stores until August 10, it hits Sephora.com on July 24 and a waitlist will go live on the site tomorrow.

Plus, if you're wondering if we can expect more color cosmetics from the brand in the future, the answer is yes! "This is the first step into cosmetics, but we have big plans to expand in the category in ways that make sense for us," says Silva. "We are all about a flawless complexion, so you will see more products that fit well with our sponges. Skin prep is also a big priority for me as a makeup artist, so we want to arm women with everything they need to prep for their makeup application."

We can't wait to see what launches next!
