Ben Roethlisberger suffers knee injury against Dolphins, but returns

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ biggest nightmare is Ben Roethlisberger going down with an injury. They lived it last season.

The Steelers found themselves turning to Landry Jones again on Sunday, and must have had some scary flashbacks. Roethlisberger suffered a left knee injury in the second quarter and walked to the locker room with the Steelers’ medical staff. The team declared he was questionable to return.

The Steelers avoided a worst-case scenario, though. Roethlisberger was back out on the field for the start of the second half. And everyone in Pittsburgh exhaled.

Roethlisberger hurt his knee at the end of an interception. Roethlisberger grabbed his knee after he was blocked on the play.

The Steelers struggled without Roethlisberger last year. He missed four games last season, and Jones and Mike Vick did not play well when he was out.

Roethlisberger has dealt with injuries through his career, because he takes as much punishment as any quarterback in the league. The Steelers got a reminder on Sunday of how fragile their season is if Roethlisberger suffers a major injury.
