Benzinga Reader Survey Reveals Traders' Brokerage Preferences

TD Ameritrade Wins Big Among Benzinga Readers, But Survey Results Also Show that Lesser-known Players have Significant Market Share

DETROIT, MI / ACCESSWIRE / July 2, 2018 / Benzinga, a leading financial media outlet, and data provider, announced the results of its 2018 reader survey, designed to reveal the brokerage of choice for Benzinga's audience of traders and investors.

Most surprisingly, 23% of the 2,000 respondents do not use one of the top 7 brokerages (by market share), instead choosing smaller startups and niche firms. TD Ameritrade (AMTD) led the survey with 32% of respondents using the firm as their primary brokerage. See full results here.

Given that the largest group of respondents was 65 years or older, it is not surprising to see that only 5% of respondents listed Robinhood as their primary brokerage, whose mobile-first approach has a strong appeal to younger investors.
