Best/Worst Daily ETF Returns: GREK Off 6.34%
Investor apprehension about the implications of the new anti-austerity government in Greece was reflected in yesterday’s performance of the Global X FTSE Greece 20 ETF (GREK - News), which suffered 6.34 percent in losses, making it No. 1 on IndexUniverse’s “Bottom 10 1-Day Performers” list.
The fund slid another 7.3 percent on Tuesday amid growing concerns that the southern European country may end up dropping out of the eurozone. The fund, which has just $2.61 million in assets, was trading around $12.33 a share today, according to data on Google Finance.
The Global X Social Media Index ETF (SOCL - News) was No. 2 on the bottom performers list, with a 4.27 percent decline. SOCL includes a variety of social media companies such as LinkedIn and Google, and is likely to include exposure to Facebook once the company goes public.
Investors appeared to have sold the ETF on reports Facebook’s valuation will be about $90 billion instead of the anticipated $100 billion.
Investor apprehension also grew about the future prospects of long-term plays on U.S. Treasurys. The PowerShares Convertible Securities Portfolio (CVRT - News) was No. 3 on the bottom performers list, with losses of 3.79 percent.

Indian funds meanwhile surged yesterday, as the implementation of the General Anti-Avoidance Rule, a controversial provision regarding taxation for foreign investors, was deferred for another year.
The EGShares India Infrastructure (INXX - News) returned 4.06 percent, making it No. 1 on IndexUniverse’s “Top 10 1-Day Performers” list.
The Market Vectors India Small-Cap ETF (SCIF - News) returned 3.19 percent, making it No. 4 on the list.
The iPath MSCI India ETN (INP - News) was No. 6 on the list, with 3.06 percent in returns.
