From Town & Country

Bethenny Frankel has spoken out about the death of her on-and-off boyfriend, Dennis Shields, just three days after the New York businessman was found dead in his Trump Tower apartment Friday.

On Monday, the Real Housewives of New York star and Skinnygirl mogul posted a photo of Shields laying down in a bed beside her dog of 17 years, Cookie, who passed away in October, with the caption, "Rest In Peace my sweet babies who gave me endless unconditional love. #nowandforever."

His cause of death has not been revealed, but People reports that the 51-year-old died of a suspected overdose.

“The medical examiner’s office is investigating the death of a man believed to be Dennis Shields, found at the Trump Tower," the medical examiner’s spokeswoman, Aja Worthy-Davis, told the publication. "The investigation is ongoing, and we will release cause and manner of death when completed."

Frankel and Shields first met almost 30 years ago when he dated and married one of her high school friends, according to People. The pair reconnected in 2016 after Shields separated from his wife, Jill Schwartzberg Shields.

On Saturday, Jill posted a tribute to Shields on Instagram following his death. In a family photo with their children, she wrote in part, "To the love of my life- Dennis-I will miss you every day. Forever your legacy will live on in our children and our future grandchildren. Your intelligence, humor and of course your good looks will forever be engrained in our family!"
