Brian Turk, who appeared in classic TV series such as Beverly Hills, 90210 and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has died at the age of 49.
The actor featured in the 1990s teen drama as the character Tiny, and played Mort – one of the minions of the vampire Harmony – in Joss Whedon's groundbreaking show. He also had roles in The Lost World: Jurassic Park, AI: Artificial Intelligence, American Pie 2 and HBO's Carnivàle.
A GoFundMe page was set up in July when Brian was told his cancer was terminal, in order to provide money for his family. The fundrasier is still ongoing and at the time of writing has raised $28,200 of a $50,000 target.
A post on the page (that was written before his passing) reads: "Brian has impacted so many of us in a positive way whether it be on the football field, at Mater Dei or USC, on stage or in our personal lives. He has always been there for us in our times of need and celebration...
"We need to consider him & his family long term. They need our support for his son's future. If you have the ability to donate, any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
The actor died on Friday (September 13) and is survived by his wife and 8-year-old son.
