Zuul the Gatekeeper may have let some top-secret info about the new Ghostbusters movie slip through the gate.

In a new interview with Parade magazine, Sigourney Weaver surprisingly revealed that she will be returning for Jason Reitman's spin-off of the franchise as her classic character Dana Barrett!

And not only that! Weaver apparently also told magazine that her long-time co-stars Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray are on board too, presumably reprising their roles as Ghostbusters Ray Stantz and Peter Venkman.

"It’s going to be crazy working with the guys again," she said.

Jason Reitman has yet to respond to Weaver's comments. Previously though, Bill Murray expressed an interest in returning for Jason Reitman's upcoming Ghostbusters 3.

Chatting to IndieWire at this month's Cannes Film Festival – where his zombie flick The Dead Don't Die was the festival opener – Murray admitted that he'd have no problem with making an appearance in Reitman's sequel.

"This franchise paid for my son's college," he noted. "We made this thing. We are the caretakers of it. It's a great thing and it was a really fun movie to make. It's a real movie with some really funny stuff in it."

Reflecting on how he originally got involved with Paul Feig's female-led instalment of the franchise, Murray explained: "I was in that movie just because they asked me, and I knew if I said no, I was saying I didn't support that movie.

"I felt like, 'OK, I'm going to support them because I support them as people.' So I did that one and I would do this next one."

Meanwhile, it was confirmed earlier this year that one of Murray's other classic comedies - Groundhog Day - will receive a virtual reality sequel.

As long as it features Sonny Bono's 'I Got You Babe', then we're all for it.
