For Billie Eilish, the Most Practical Jacket Choice Is Always Prada

At only 17 years old, Billie Eilish is officially the youngest recipient of Billboard’s Woman of the Year Award. Having accepted the honor from Cyndi Lauper at last night’s 2019 Women In Music ceremony—held at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles—Eilish said that she felt especially freaked out following in Ariana Grande’s footsteps. (Grande received the very same award last year, but Eilish was equally acknowledging the fact it’s a strange title for someone who isn’t even a legal adult yet.)

That being said, given her knockout year within the music industry, the accolade is well deserved—and Eilish took on the ceremony in signature laid-back style. Dressed in head-to-toe monochromatic Prada, Eilish paired slick, sporty nylon shorts in taupe with a zip-up hoodie that featured four massive pockets along the front, before finishing it off with chunky platform sneakers from the Italian house, too. Most would take such an occasion to bust out an ornate dress, but Eilish went in the opposite direction, choosing something that’s downright practical for the ceremony. It’s yet another moment of the singer bending an established brand to her will—however storied the fashion house might be, Eilish always knows how to translate it into her own indelible silhouette and style.
