Billie Eilish Is Releasing a Documentary and Hosting a Giant Climate Action Event

This article originally appeared on Vegetarian Times

Billie Eilish is known for using her star power to call for positive change on issues of animal rights and the climate crisis. Starting Friday, June 10, she’ll be doing so again - on grand scale - as she hosts Overheated, a six-day climate action event bringing together pop stars, fashion designers, activists, and thousands of attendees.

The event marks the premiere of OVERHEATED: A Climate Change Documentary, a film featuring Eilish and other young advocates addressing the climate crisis. In addition to in-person screenings at the Overheated summit, viewers at home will be able to stream the documentary in limited release on WePresent.

Eilish is collabing on the event with “green music” org REVERB and Support + Feed, a Los Angeles-based non-profit organization founded by her mother, Maggie Baird. Support + Feed delivers vegan meals to people in need while advocating for a more eco-friendly food system.

During one of the on-stage sessions at London’s 02 Arena, Baird will have a conversation with Impossible Foods CEO Peter McGuiness, where the two will discuss the importance of plant-based eating and the environmental consequences of animal agriculture. Impossible will be on the menu in the arena, too, in the form of dishes including Impossible Sausage Kofta and Impossible Chicken Parmigiana.

“I’m thrilled to be bringing our food to our friends and fans at Overheated and to support the next generation of changemakers shaping the future of our planet. Billie, Maggie, Support + Feed and Reverb are assembling an inspiring cohort of people who recognize that the food system is one of the most powerful tools we have to address climate change. It’s an honor to join them and to help feed their movement for climate action."

Other bold-faced names from fashion and entertainment involved in the event include musicians Ellie Goulding, Sigrid, Nick Mulvey, Love Ssega, Laura Misch, Eilish’s brother, Finneas, and Vivienne Westwood. They’ll be joined by a powerful roster of climate and vegan activists from around the world. Citizen-T will host a “playground” offering clothing swaps and a fashion sustainability conference track.

For those not able to attend in person, the Overheated live summit will be streamed in its entirety on YouTube.
