BMW confirmed today it will turn its yet-to-be-revealed next-generation M4 into a GT3 race car for the the 2022 season. The company has revealed a single teaser photo to accompany the news, shown above.

The car will use a version of the S58 twin-turbo straight-six engine set to be used in the road-going M4. The company hasn't told us much else, but judging by the rendering, we can see widebody fenders, a roll cage, a big wing, and what seem to be long vertically-shaped kidney grilles, much like the ones found on the Concept 4 shown earlier this year in Frankfurt.

BMW says testing for the M4 GT3 will begin in 202o. The car will begin participating in race events as a development prototype in 2021, with customer cars becoming available in 2022.
