Packaging Corp. bid lifts Boise

Merger in Containerboard Space

Boise agreed to be purchased by Packaging Corp. of America $1.27 billion, for $12.55 a share. The deal will increase by PKG's containerboard capacity by more than 40 percent. BZ rockets 27 percent before the opening bell on my tradeMONSTER platform, and PKG climbs 12 percent.

Tencent Investment Drives Sohu Higher

Sohu sold a 36.5 percent stake in its Sogou search-engine unit to rival Tencent for $448 million. The investment could increase over time and will let the two companies collaborate in developing products and services. SOHU rallies 7 percent in the premarket.

Avanir Rebounds on Piper Comments

Avanir Pharmaceuticals fell hard last week amid concerns about off-label marketing of its Nuedexta drug and patent litigation, but Piper Jaffray is defending the stock. It says fears are overblown and keeps its $30 price target on the name. AVNR, which closed at $4.08 on Friday, rose 7 percent in early trading.
