After pledging he’d “wade across” the Boise River if his team played in front of a sellout, the Boise State basketball coach did just that. With a Saturday night sellout against San Diego State assured, Rice waded across the river on Saturday afternoon.  The clip was later played during Boise’s 83-80 win over San Diego State, a victory that moved the Broncos to 15-3 and kept them a half-game behind Nevada for first place in the Mountain West.

“Son of a nutcracker, that’s cold,” Rice said as he stepped into the river. He said the water’s temperature was 37 degrees.

While Rice could’ve picked a deeper spot in the river, we’re glad he chose an easy spot to cross. Boise State’s season is going too well to lose a coach to hypothermia or, worse, drowning.
