CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) _ Bojangles Inc. (BOJA) on Thursday reported a third-quarter loss of $2.7 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.
The Charlotte, North Carolina-based company said it had a loss of 7 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were 21 cents per share.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of nine analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 15 cents per share.
The chicken and biscuits restaurant operator posted revenue of $138.7 million in the period, which also topped Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $136.3 million.
Bojangles shares have risen 36 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $16.08, a climb of 33 percent in the last 12 months.
