Bold Ride of the Week: G-Power BMW M3 GT2 R

German tuners G-Power have been synonymous in recent years with building some of the best looking, most powerful BMW M3s on the market. And in order to step up their game for their latest build, they pulled 700-hp out of this BMW M3 GT2 R, and it’s a monster.

In 2010, with the launch of the M3 GT2 S, at 600-hp, one would assume a M3 could only tack on a few extra ponies to its already impressive resume. Ah, but you’d be wrong, you see. G-Power managed to pull an extra hundred horses from under the bonnet, courtesy of an SK III “Sporty Drive” supercharger system. Other modifications include an updated crankshaft and an increased engine displacement from 4.0- to 4.6-liters.

Further quenching their thirst for speed, G-Power shaved a few pounds off the previous curb weight, bringing the final weight to somewhere near less than 1,500 kg (3,306 lbs). This helps the GT2 R sprint to 62 mph (100 km/h) in only 3.7 seconds, on to a top speed of 205 mph (330 km/h).

All this newfound power will cost current M3 owners a whopping €41,650 ($55,294) for the supercharger kit, an extra €30,000 ($39, 828) for the carbon fiber body kit, and a custom wheel and tire combo for €12,000 ($15,931) more. But opting for a pre-built M3 GT2 R won’t set you back much more than €195,310 ($259,293). Chump change, right?
