Brazil extends emergency COVID-19 cash transfers to poor for three months

BRASILIA, July 5 (Reuters) - Brazil's government on Monday extended emergency cash transfer program to relieve poor families during the coronavirus pandemic for another three months.

In a statement released by President Jair Bolsonaro's office, the government said the extension is "essential for the livelihood of the most vulnerable ... to prevent millions of Brazilians from falling into extreme poverty." (Reporting by Ricardo Brito and Jamie McGeever; editing by Diane Craft)
