BRCM Solutions for Home Electrical Wiring
Broadcom Corporation (BRCM) recently launched a new family of HomePlug AV2 powerline system–on-chips (SOCs) devices that deliver 1.5 Gigabit data speed per second for residential gateways and set-top boxes over existing home electrical wirings.
The new SoCs, named BCM60500 and BCM60333, are fully interoperable and support Multiple Input Multiple Output (:MIMO) – a technology already in use with 802.11n and 802.11ac Wi-Fi standard. Both the chips are engineered to work inside powerline communication (:PLC) adapters, routers, or integrated into end-devices, set-top box, gateway and TV platforms. These new chips enhance the overall networking experience of the customer.
HomePlug AV2 is the next generation powerline standard that uses an extended frequency band of up to 86 MHz and provides significant increases in throughput and coverage performance. It delivers reliable and faster Internet speeds and a more effective way of power line communications.
This new technology is well suited to provide the customers with convenient networking solutions to support Internet video, online gaming and other residential high throughput-demanding applications.
