Bridal Week: Marchesa's Fall/Winter 2018 collection is an ode to the 'timeless' bride

For Marchesa's Fall/Winter 2018 collection, co-founders Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig were inspired by the idea of reminiscing on the past -- while also looking to the future.

"We were looking at the notion of transformation -- the idea that a woman might not want just one look at their wedding and they don't have time to change. So think of a short skirt getting an overskirt that wraps around to create a gown or a sleeves that come off," Craig said in an exclusive interview with AOL Lifestyle.

"It's that romantic notion of when you were a child and you played dressed up and imagined that you were getting married -- the misty, hazy romance of those memories," Chapman added.

The breathtaking Marchesa Bridal collection -- filled with dripping florals, feather light textures and romantic drapery -- will surely make any bride feel special on her big day. Similarly, the Marchesa Notte collection features that delicate, stunning lace the fashion house is known for, with flutter sleeves, ornate beading and appliqués peppered in the designs.

"We try to look at every different bride, and you'll see that with the Notte collection and the Marchesa Bridal collection," Chapman said when asked about her idea of the Marchesa bride.

If you recall, Chapman and Craig presented Marchesa's Spring 2018 line just a few weeks ago at New York Fashion Week. It's safe to say the past month has been a whirlwind -- but the duo agreed that their success wouldn't be possible without their incredible team.

"We did it!" Craig said. "We have an amazing team who works around the clock and are passionate about making the dresses."

If Marchesa's latest unveiling is any indication, trends come and go but their stunning wedding gowns will stand the test of time.

"It's not even about building an individual collection, it's about building a catalog of timeless dresses," Chapman said.
