Brie Larson's Captain Marvel Soars in New Somber TV Spot for Avengers: Endgame

It’s almost time for the Avengers to take on Thanos — and they’re getting serious.

With only 5 days to go until the Marvel epic Avengers: Endgame drops on Friday, a new TV spot shows the remaining superheroes getting ready to embark on a dangerous mission.

“I used to have nothing, and then I got this family,” Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff says at the beginning of the spot. “We owe it to everyone we lost to take a stand.”

The mini trailer then flashes through several scenes of the Avengers getting ready, ending in an epic moment with Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel glowing brightly in the air while getting ready to fight.

Endgame will clock in at three hours and two minutes, making it the longest Marvel movie yet. In a new interview with Vulture, the screenwriters of the film, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, insist the film is as “lean” in its runtime as possible.

“It’s exactly as long as it needs to be,” McFeely said. “Any shorter and it would have felt like we weren’t honoring all the threads and franchises that are feeding into this climax.”

The two also faced the challenge of culminating 11 years worth of movies, beginning with the release of Iron Man in 2008.

“Twenty-two movies in, not only has the movie earned its length, but people deserve a movie of that substance,” McFeely continued. “I swear to God, it sounds like a paradox to say this, but it’s a lean three hours!”

Avengers: Endgame opens in theaters Friday.
