CHELMSFORD, Mass. (AP) _ Brooks Automation Inc. (BRKS) on Monday reported fiscal second-quarter profit of $3.4 million.
The Chelmsford, Massachusetts-based company said it had profit of 5 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 23 cents per share.
The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 10 cents per share.
The supplier to semiconductor manufacturers posted revenue of $198.4 million in the period, which also topped Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $193.5 million.
For the current quarter ending in July, Brooks expects its per-share earnings to range from 13 cents to 18 cents.
The company said it expects revenue in the range of $200 million to $210 million for the fiscal third quarter.
Brooks shares have increased 24% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $32.36, an increase of 28% in the last 12 months.
