Brown & Brown, Inc. Announces Quarterly Revenues of $619.3 Million, an Increase of 23.5%; Diluted Net Income Per Share of $0.40; and a Quarterly Dividend of $0.08 Per Share

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., April 22, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Brown & Brown, Inc. (BRO) (the "Company") today announced its unaudited financial results for the first quarter of 2019.

Revenues for the first quarter of 2019 under U.S. generally accepted accounting principles ("GAAP") were $619.3 million, increasing $117.8 million, or 23.5%, compared to the first quarter of the prior year, with commissions and fees increasing by 23.4% and Organic Revenue(1) increasing by 2.0%. Net income was $113.9 million, increasing $23.1 million, or 25.4%, and diluted net income per share was $0.40, increasing by 25.0%, compared to the first quarter of the prior year. Diluted Net Income Per Share - Adjusted(2) increased to $0.41, or 24.2%, compared to the first quarter of the prior year.

Organic Revenue can be expressed as a dollar amount or a percentage rate when describing Organic Revenue growth. We view Organic Revenue and Organic Revenue growth as important indicators when assessing and evaluating our performance on a consolidated basis and for each of our segments, because it allows us to determine a comparable, but non-GAAP, measurement of revenue growth that is associated with the revenue sources that were a part of our business in both the current and prior year and that are expected to continue in the future.

Income before income taxes for the first quarter of 2019 was $148.5 million, an increase of $30.1 million, or 25.4%, and Income Before Income Taxes Margin(3) increased to 24.0% from 23.6% as compared to the first quarter of the prior year.

In order to provide a better understanding of our business, we evaluate EBITDAC(4) performance. We view EBITDAC and EBITDAC Margin(5) as important indicators when assessing and evaluating our performance, as they present more comparable, but non-GAAP, measurements of our operating margins in a meaningful and consistent manner.  EBITDAC for the first quarter of 2019 was $197.1 million, an increase of $40.4 million, or 25.8%, compared to the first quarter of the prior year. EBITDAC Margin increased from 31.2% to 31.8% in the first quarter of 2019, as compared to the first quarter of the prior year.
