EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) _ C.H. Robinson Worldwide Inc. (CHRW) on Tuesday reported second-quarter net income of $169.2 million.
On a per-share basis, the Eden Prairie, Minnesota-based company said it had net income of $1.22.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of nine analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.21 per share.
The trucking company posted revenue of $3.91 billion in the period, which did not meet Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $4.04 billion.
C.H. Robinson shares have risen almost 1% since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has risen 20%. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $84.77, a fall of slightly more than 6% in the last 12 months.
