ISLANDIA, N.Y. (AP) -- Software maker CA Technologies said Wednesday that CEO William McCracken will step down in early 2013, and Michael Gregoire of Taleo Corp. will become its new CEO.
CA Technologies makes IT management software for companies. The company said McCracken, 70, will step down from the board of directors on Jan. 7. Gregoire, 46, has been elected to the board and will become CEO at that time. McCracken will retire from CA on March 31.
Gregoire is the former Chairman, President and CEO of Taleo, a maker of employee-recruiting software. CA Technologies said Gregoire lead Taleo for seven years, a period that covered its initial public offering in 2005 and concluded after Oracle Corp. bought Taleo in April for about $1.9 billion.
McCracken has been CEO of CA Technologies, previously known as Computer Associates, since January 2010.
CA Technologies shares fell 24 cents to close at $21.85.
