Canary Takes Home 2015 Red Dot and iF Awards

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Apr 9, 2015) - Canary, the record-breaking, all-in-one home security device, is proud to announce its status as a 2015 Red Dot Award and 2015 iF Award winner.

"The home security industry has never been known for innovative or beautiful product design, but Canary is changing that," said Chief Creative Officer and co-founder Jon Troutman. "It's an honor to win these prestigious awards and to be recognized in the company of today's most inspiring products."

For more than 60 years, the Red Dot and iF award panels have been known around the world as arbiters of outstanding achievements in design. Each jury is comprised of internationally-renowned design experts and is highly selective; in both instances, the experts of the Red Dot and iF juries hand-picked Canary from a pool of nearly 5,000 entrants.

"We redesigned home security with the overall experience in mind," said James Krause, Canary's lead industrial designer. "Our design decisions have no bias towards the hardware or software, but an understanding and consideration of both. The result is a product that is highly effective, aesthetically beautiful, and fits easily into people's lives." This marks Krause's second Red Dot win; he was also honored in 2013 for his work on the MC40 Retail Mobile Computer.

Canary will be celebrated at the Red Dot Gala in June, and exhibited in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen thereafter. It will also be featured in one of three subsequent special shows in the iF design exhibition in Hamburg, Germany.

About the Red Dot Award:
The Red Dot Award was created by Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen and with around 17,000 entries each year is one of the best-respected design competitions in the world. In 2015, it is celebrating its 60th anniversary: It was in 1955 that a jury convened for the first time to assess the best designs of the day. The sought-after award, the "Red Dot", is the revered international seal of outstanding design quality.

About the iF Design Awards
Since the introduction of the iF product design award in 1953, iF design awards have developed into prestigious trademarks for outstanding achievements in the field of design. Enterprises and design studios use the award to make their customers and additional target groups aware of the potentially decisive difference in product and service quality expressed by this distinction.

Furthermore, you'd generally like to see the share price rise faster than the market But Associated Banc-Corp (NYSE:ASB) has fallen short of that second goal, with a share price rise of 27% over five years, which is below the market return. One flawed but reasonable way to assess how sentiment around a company has changed is to compare the earnings per share (EPS) with the share price. During five years of share price growth, Associated Banc-Corp achieved compound earnings per share (EPS) growth of 12% per year.

Boeing 'shielded' from 737 Max order cancellations

Don't expect Boeing Co. to face a slew of order cancellations following the 737 Max debacle. Airlines, Boeing's (BA) main customers, are hungry for fuel-efficient single-aisle aircraft such as the Max, and there's a long backlog for the jet's closest competitor, Airbus SE' (FR:AIR) A320neo, analysts at Oxford Economics said in a note Thursday. “That will shield Boeing from a mass cancellation of orders,” the analysts said.

Shares of Uxin lost more than half of their value midday Tuesday after J Capital Research analyst Anne Stevenson-Yang issued a report claiming that Uxin has exaggerated the volume of auto sales it processes by as much as 40%, and that founder and CEO Kun Dai was making false statements about the business' strength while taking cash out of the business. The response helped Uxin shares to recover much of what they lost on Wednesday.

Amazon Prime Could Be Peaking in the US

Exactly a year ago today, e-commerce juggernaut Amazon.com (NASDAQ: AMZN) confirmed that its global Prime member base had "exceeded 100 million." That was a rare disclosure from a company known for playing important operating metrics close to the vest. Amazon did not provide a geographical breakdown of the member base, which would be necessary to figure out just how much the company brings in from Prime membership fees since prices vary wildly by market. Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP) released a research report yesterday that points to slowing growth in Amazon Prime membership in the U.S. There were an estimated 103 million U.S. Prime members at the end of the first quarter, and they spend an average of $1,400 per year, according to the report.

Pier 1 liquidation is a possibility, analysts say

Pier 1 Imports Inc.'s Interim Chief Executive Cheryl Bachelder may have taken an optimistic tone after the home décor retailer reported disappointing fourth-quarter earnings, but analysts were bearish, bringing up the possibility of a liquidation in the not-so-distant future. “Given the trends in business, and its negative earnings per share, EBITDA [earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization], and free cash flow, we see Pier 1 and its $1.6 billion in revenues as potentially at risk of needing liquidation if trends don't improve,” wrote KeyBanc Capital Markets analysts led by Bradley Thomas. KeyBanc thinks Kirkland's Inc. (KIRK)  , Williams-Sonoma Inc. (WSM)  , Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. (BBBY)  and At Home Group Inc. (HOME)  would benefit from a Pier 1 (PIR)  liquidation.
