CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) _ Capitala Finance Corp. (CPTA) on Monday reported a loss of $11.9 million in its third quarter.

The Charlotte, North Carolina-based company said it had a loss of 74 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were 25 cents per share.

The results matched Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was also for earnings of 25 cents per share.

The business development company posted revenue of $11.5 million in the period, falling short of Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $11.7 million.

Capitala Finance shares have increased 13 percent since the beginning of the year.
