HOUSTON (AP) _ Carbo Ceramics Inc. (CRR) on Thursday reported a loss of $16.7 million in its third quarter.

The Houston-based company said it had a loss of 62 cents per share.

The maker of material used to boost the output of oil and natural gas wells posted revenue of $53.8 million in the period.

Carbo Ceramics shares have decreased 46 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has dropped 21 percent in the last 12 months.
