NEW YORK (AP) -- Cardinal Financial Corp. will soon replace American Greetings Corp. in the S&P SmallCap 600, S&P Dow Jones Indices said Wednesday.
American Greetings is being taken private in a deal that is expected to close on or about Friday. The switch will take place after the close of trading that day. The greeting card company agreed in April to be taken private by a group led by some of its top executives.
Cardinal Financial, headquartered in McLean, Va., provides banking products and services to commercial and retail customers.
S&P Dow Jones Indices is a part of McGraw Hill Financial, which owns the well-known S&P 500 index, as well as the Down Jones Industrial Average.
