On a per-share basis, the Vancouver, British Columbia-based company said it had a loss of 18 cents.
The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 16 cents per share.
The cardiovascular drug maker posted revenue of $7 million in the period, topping Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $6.7 million.
For the year, the company reported that its loss narrowed to $19.6 million, or 79 cents per share. Revenue was reported as $25.3 million.
In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, the company's shares hit $3.07. A year ago, they were trading at $5.09.
