SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (AP) _ Career Education Corp. (CECO) on Thursday reported a fourth-quarter loss of $32.9 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.
The Schaumburg, Illinois-based company said it had a loss of 48 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs and to account for discontinued operations, were 4 cents per share.
The for-profit education company posted revenue of $155.3 million in the period.
For the year, the company reported a loss of $18.7 million, or 27 cents per share, swinging to a loss in the period. Revenue was reported as $704.4 million.
Career Education shares have decreased 7.5 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $9.33, more than tripling in the last 12 months.
