Catalent: Fiscal 2Q Earnings Snapshot

SOMERSET, N.J. (AP) _ Catalent Inc. (CTLT) on Tuesday reported fiscal second-quarter net income of $49 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the Somerset, New Jersey-based company said it had net income of 33 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 45 cents per share.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of nine analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 37 cents per share.

The maker of drug delivery technologies posted revenue of $623 million in the period, which also beat Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $604.2 million.

Catalent shares have increased 20 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has dropped 20 percent in the last 12 months.
