Get ready for yet another high-profile streaming option.

FX Networks, long a home for quality television, and streaming service Hulu Thursday announced FX on Hulu, a dedicated umbrella portal for more than 40 current and past series, including "American Horror Story," "Fargo" and "Sons of Anarchy," from its cable networks.

Most important, four high-profile series in development, including ones starring Oscar winners Cate Blanchett and Jeff Bridges, will bypass FX's cable networks and go straight to FX on Hulu, which could enhance the streaming service's appeal to subscribers.

In addition, new seasons of most current and upcoming FX and FXX original series, including new comedies "Dave" (FXX) and "Breeders" (FX), will be available on FX on Hulu immediately after their cable airing, and the streaming service's library will include every season of more than 40 FX shows over the past 17 years.

Both FX and Hulu are under the Disney corporate umbrella and the pairing could be an effort to boost Hulu's original program offerings with Apple, WarnerMedia and NBCUniversal joining an increasingly crowded streaming field that also includes Netflix and Amazon. Disney's Disney+ streaming service makes its debut on Tuesday.

The star-studded shows exclusively planned for FX on Hulu include:

• "Mrs. America," which looks at the movement to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment and stars Blanchett as Phyllis Schlafly. The cast of the limited series, which premieres in the spring, includes Rose Byrne, Elizabeth Banks, Uzo Aduba, Margo Martindale, John Slattery and Tracey Ullman.

• "The Old Man," in which Bridges plays a retired CIA officer. The drama, based on Thomas Perry's novel of the same name, premieres in the fall and also stars John Lithgow and Amy Brenneman.

• "A Teacher," a limited series starring Kate Mara that "explores an intimate connection between a female high school teacher and an underage male student that evolves into a high stakes, emotional affair, revealing the complexities and consequences behind these relationships," as the show's description says. It's scheduled for the summer.

• "Devs," the first TV series from Oscar-nominated screenwriter Alex Garland ("Ex Machina," "Annihilation"). Sonoya Mizuno, Nick Offerman, Jin Ha and Alison Pill star in a tech thriller that centers on a young Silicon Valley software engineer who investigates her boyfriend's apparent suicide. "Devs" will be available when FX on Hulu launches in March.
