Census: ND leads nation in housing growth
Census: North Dakota leads nation in housing growth; 7,388 units added in state last year
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- U.S. Census Bureau data show that North Dakota's rate of housing growth is the highest in the country.
The bureau says North Dakota added 7,388 new housing units in 2012. That's a growth rate of 2.3 percent, compared to the national average of 0.3 percent.
Williams County topped the Census Bureau's list of the nation's top 100 in housing growth with 1,525 new housing units. That's a 13.9 percent increase. Ward County followed with a 4.8 percent increase, with 1,318 new housing units.
Burleigh, Cass, Grand Forks, Morton, Stark and Ramsey counties also were listed in the top 100 counties for housing growth.
