WALNUT CREEK, Calif. (AP) _ Central Garden & Pet Co. (CENT) on Tuesday reported fiscal fourth-quarter earnings of $2.4 million.
On a per-share basis, the Walnut Creek, California-based company said it had net income of 4 cents.
The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 17 cents per share.
The maker of products for the pet supply and lawn and garden markets posted revenue of $540.7 million in the period, beating Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $518.2 million.
For the year, the company reported profit of $92.8 million, or $1.61 per share. Revenue was reported as $2.38 billion.
Central Garden shares have declined nearly 9% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $31.38, a rise of slightly more than 1% in the last 12 months.
