Check Point posts higher 3Q earnings, revenue

SAN CARLOS, Calif. (AP) -- Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. said Monday that its third-quarter net income rose 5 percent thanks to higher revenue from its data security products.

The company earned $159.7 million, or 80 cents per share, up from $152.4 million, or 73 cents per share, in the same period a year earlier.

Adjusted earnings were 85 cents per share in the latest quarter.

Revenue rose 4 percent to $344.1 million from $332.4 million.

Analysts, on average, had expected adjusted earnings of 84 cents per share on revenue of $343.7 million, according to a poll by FactSet.

Shares rose up $1.26, or 2.2 percent, to close at $59.67. Earlier, Check Point's stock hit a 52-week high of $62.32.
