Cheesecake Factory promotes exec to president

Cheesecake Factory promotes executive David Gordon to president after Jannini leaves

CALABASAS HILLS, Calif. (AP) -- The Cheesecake Factory Inc. said Tuesday that it has promoted one of its executives, David Gordon, to president after Michael Jannini left to pursue other interests.

Jannini had been president since February 2010.

The change is effective immediately.

Gordon joined Cheesecake Factory in 1993 as a manager and had risen to chief operating officer of Cheesecake Factory and Grand Lux Cafe restaurants. He had played a key role in making restaurant operations more efficient and in efforts to expand internationally, said CEO David Overton.

The company, based in Calabasas Hills, Calif., operates 177 restaurants in the U.S. and licenses three restaurants overseas.

Shares of Cheesecake Factory stock added 42 cents, or 1.3 percent, to $33.49 by midday.
