DOVER, Del. (AP) _ Chesapeake Utilities Corp. (CPK) on Wednesday reported first-quarter profit of $28.7 million.
The Dover, Delaware-based company said it had net income of $1.74 per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, came to $1.68 per share.
The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.60 per share.
The energy and utility company posted revenue of $227.6 million in the period.
Chesapeake Utilities shares have increased 14% since the beginning of the year. The stock has increased 22% in the last 12 months.
