A Chicago bar wants to keep it 'classy,' bans both 'Make America Great Again' hats and face tattoos
If you find yourself in Chicago, you might want to stop by Replay Lincoln Park to play old-school video games while enjoying your beverage of choice. That is, unless you have a face tattoo or are wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat. (That seems unfair since only one of those things is removable!)
To maintain a “classy” environment, the bar has posted on their Facebook page a new dress code that bans both MAGA hats and face tattoos. While it was probably a lighthearted jab, people have already started to leave negative reviews on their Yelp page and Facebook, although the bar seems to be maintaining their sense of humor.
Recently, after refusing service to press secretary Sarah Sanders, the Red Hen has been the target of negative Yelp reviews as well.
Many commenters state that they will refuse to patronize to both the restaurant and the bar. On the Red Hen Yelp page, one person from Texas wrote, “Decides who can and who cannot dine based on their employment or political affiliations. What a despicable business model! Poor decision by owners and management.”
A Yelp review on Replay’s page read, “What a disgusting place that will not allow this nation’s new logo on a hat. What do they want, make America bad again hats?”
The management at Replay Lincoln Park, where patrons can play vintage arcade games for free, eventually responded, according to Fox News, “Ok they can come in, but they’ll have to pay to play the games. Free speech but for a price.”
Just last April, a Manhattan judge ruled that refusing service to a Trump supporter does not break the law, as the law doesn’t protect against political discrimination. But that still leaves one question: What’s wrong with face tattoos?
