Chiefs cover the spread thanks to wild ending Monday night
In capturing a 29-20 victory Monday night against visiting Washington, the Kansas City Chiefs proved the old adage that while good teams win, great teams cover the spread.
With the game all but over, the Redskins attempted one final play on their own 25-yard line, down three points with four seconds left. After a series of laterals and fumbles, Chiefs outside linebacker Justin Houston picked up the loose football and returned it for a touchdown as time expired. It was hardly a meaningless play.

Entering the game, Kansas City closed as a 7.5-point favorite, according to the online sportsbook, Bovada. Additionally, the over/under total was set at 48.5, meaning that the over also hit with the chaotic final play.
The moment was not lost on ESPN’s play-by-play man Sean McDonough, who stated: “This might be meaningful to some.”

Next, the undefeated Chiefs will travel to Houston for a Week 5 tilt with red hot Deshaun Watson and the Texans, while the 2-2 Redskins have a bye next week, before hosting the 49ers in Week 6.
