Former Bessemer CEO and Industry Leader Brings Decades of Experience to the Firm

NEW YORK, December 06, 2021--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Chilton Trust, a leading privately owned, independent wealth management firm and national trust bank, today announced that John A. Hilton, Jr. has been appointed to its Board of Directors. Mr. Hilton will serve alongside Chilton Trust’s other Directors, as a highly consultative and engaged Board Member, advising across all aspects of the firm’s bespoke service delivery and growth strategies.

"John’s extensive experience in investment management, wealth management, wealth planning, trust and family office services is a tremendous value-add to Chilton Trust," said Richard Lockwood Chilton, Jr., Chilton Trust’s Founder and Chairman. "We are confident that John’s depth of knowledge of our business will be highly complementary and additive in allowing us to thoughtfully grow and continue to provide best-in-class services to our clients and their families."

Mr. Hilton recently served as Senior Advisor to Brown Brothers Harriman’s Private Bank for the past six years. Before that, he held a nineteen-year tenure at Bessemer Trust, one of the world’s most legendary multi-family offices, serving as President and CEO for ten years. Prior to that, he was Managing Director for the Deerpath Group, Inc. of Lake Forest, Ill., and Executive Director for Merrill Lynch & Company’s Private Capital Group in Chicago. For 15 years he was with Citibank, spending four years in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in senior positions as Head of Mining and Metals and Senior Credit Officer.

He presently serves as Director and Treasurer for The Everglades Foundation, which works to protect and restore America’s Everglades through science, advocacy, and education. Mr. Hilton is a formidable voice for Everglades restoration, which closely aligns to Chilton Trust’s mission of stewardship. As a member of the business community in Florida, Chilton Trust has been a long-standing partner helping The Everglades Foundation protect one of the world’s largest and most fragile ecosystems. The firm’s commitment and support to that mission also extends to other foundations and organizations they partner with throughout the country.

"John and I have personally worked alongside one another in the industry for many years and additionally worked closely over the last four years supporting The Everglades Foundation. Not only does he bring unparalleled industry acumen, but a shared value system beyond the business, which is echoed through his commitment to supporting organizations that are contributing to the greater good. At Chilton Trust, we have a fiduciary responsibility to our clients, and are steadfast in our belief that we must be good corporate citizens as well," said Garrison duP. Lickle, Vice Chairman and former President and CEO of Chilton Trust.

Mr. Hilton is a retired Trustee for the University of Vermont where he and others founded the University of Vermont Foundation. He was the Foundation’s second Chairman and continues to serve as a Board Member. He recently retired as Chairman of the Board of the Washington Center. Mr. Hilton earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Vermont.

"Having long admired Chilton Trust, I look forward to contributing my fiduciary, leadership and operating expertise to the benefit of the firm," Mr. Hilton added.
