Chip and Joanna Gaines’ Youngest Daughter Emmie Kay Makes an Adorable Cameo on Fixer Upper
Emmie Kay saves the day!
Chip and Joanna Gaines’s four kids — Drake, 12, Ella, 11, Duke, 9 and Emmie Kay, 7 — often lend a helping hand on their parents’ job sites. Duke and Drake are both known for clowning around with Chip, while their daughters like to help Joanna out in the garden. But on Tuesday night’s Fixer Upper, their youngest is getting her hands dirty alongside her dad to assist with a special project.
“Today I’ve got a little helper while I’m working on getting this tile insert done in the kitchen range,” Chip says in the clip above.
The 7-year-old doesn’t seem to mind a little elbow grease, adorably telling Chip she’s “really excited” to try her hand at installing the wall treatment.
She’s a natural at applying the adhesive to the back of the Moroccan-inspired squares Joanna chose for the homeowners, who are moving back to the states after 17 years of living abroad in Pakistan. But Chip still wants to impart some wisdom on his little one.
“You know what they call the stuff that you put on the back of the tile so you can put it on the wall?” Chip quizzes. “Do you know what its nickname is?”

At first she says no, but then — to Chip’s shock — correctly guesses “butter.”
“How did you know that?” he asks.
“I don’t know, I just knew because I’m smart,” she says.

While Joanna peruses the rest of the property, the dad-daughter duo finishes up the statement detail.
“This is fun hanging out with you, you know?” he tells Emmie after they finish.
She agrees — but then takes a page out of her mom’s book. “You should get to work,” she tells him.

The Gaines kids have appeared appear on several episodes of the hit series — which is in its final season — but otherwise remain largely out of the spotlight. Now, with another baby boy on the way, it seems Joanna and Chip are even more dedicated to their decision to end the show to spend time with their growing family.
“Our oldest is almost a teenager — they’re all growing up so quickly,” Joanna told PEOPLE in October. “We really want to focus on this break and take a step back to let this all soak in.”
