CINCINNATI, OH--(Marketwired - Apr 3, 2014) - ChoreMonster, the popular app that parents are using to encourage and reward their children for doing chores, launched a major update today on ChoreMonster.com, iPhone, and iPad that features access to more than 250 interactive monsters. Best of all, ChoreMonster is now completely free.
Think "allowance meets Pokemon" -- that's ChoreMonster, which has helped kids complete more than 3 million chores since 2013. Kids earn points by completing chores to get rewards that parents create, like screen time ("an hour of Xbox"), a new Lego set, ice cream, or a family vacation. In the same app, parents get a simple-to-use tool that takes the tension out of household chores. The Monster Carnival, previously subscriber-only, provides kids with another reason to do their chores -- each chore completed earns them a ticket, which they use to win and collect monsters in the ChoreMonster app -- and more monsters are added each month.
"In our first year, we've made a lot of progress in making chores fun. More than three million chores have been completed in ChoreMonster so far," said Chris Bergman, Founder and CEO of ChoreMonster. "We look forward to bringing ChoreMonster to more families on iPad, Android, and Kindle Fire, and in more countries around the world."
Parents Asked, We Listened
We asked parents how we could improve ChoreMonster for them. Based on their feedback, here's what we've added:
- Monster interactivity - Touch and play with all of the monsters that you've collected.
- More options for chore scheduling - Schedule chores on school days, weekends, or just whenever.
- The "Brag Bar" - Easily brag about your child's accomplishments in ChoreMonster with our new Brag Bar. We'll find a bunch of awesome things that your kids did during the week in the app and enable you to post them to either Facebook or Twitter. Your friends will be jealous.
- Points boost - Did your kid do something great outside of ChoreMonster? Give them points!
More Countries, More Platforms, More Chores
In addition to ChoreMonster.com, iPhone, and Windows 8, ChoreMonster is now available on iPad. A native app for Android phones, tablets, Kindle Fire, and NOOK is coming in early May. Plus, ChoreMonster has expanded their international reach to support French, Spanish, Italian, and German, along with English.
Add and Ship Rewards Directly from Amazon.com
Parents can now search and add rewards directly from the Amazon.com marketplace, allowing them to easily fulfull a child's reward when the complete enough chores and want to "cash in."
"Integrating Amazon directly into the ChoreMonster app is incredibly powerful. It is 'allowance 2.0', the first of its kind to let kids buy items on a mobile device with parental approval. This groundbreaking approach reinforces ChoreMonster's mission to make every home a happy home," said Ted Serbinski, Partner at Detroit Venture Partners, who led a $1.5M investment in Cincinnati-based ChoreMonster last summer.
Passionate parents love to talk about ChoreMonster:
"Once we tried ChoreMonster, our son began to be interested in doing chores, because he earns points and monsters," said Rob Rude. "When we figured out that ChoreMonster worked and kept him interested, we stuck with it, and it has continued to work well for our family."
"With ChoreMonster, I don't feel like I constantly have to remind the girls to do things. It can be tiresome being the one constantly telling the kids to do this, and do that," said Maria Harris. "ChoreMonster encourages the kids to take responsibility around the house and makes it fun for them."
"ChoreMonster is helping my children work together and communicate with each other. One child will have part of a large job, and another will have the other half," said Beth McDowell. "Best of all, my 5-year-old can use ChoreMonster!"
