Chris Harrison Says He’s Been in a Relationship Just Like Peter & Victoria’s

*Warning: Spoilers ahead*

Chris Harrison is defending Peter Weber’s decisions on The Bachelor, claiming he was once in a “volatile” relationship similar to that of Weber and Victoria F.

The Bachelor Nation host, 48, recently sat down for an interview with Us Weekly and discussed the pilot’s decision to keep Victoria F., even after she demonstrated poor communication skills in episode eight. Harrison not only defended Weber, but he also opened up about a personal relationship of his own.

“It’s what makes the show so relatable. When you’re in those relationships. It’s really a lot easier said than done to just walk away,” he said. “If you’ve ever been in those relationships, the magnetic draw—and I’ve been in it! I’ve been in a relationship exactly like it as well, and I stayed and I went back and I stayed, went back and I made those same mistakes.”

While it’s easy to spot from the comfort of our own couch, Harrison encouraged viewers to put themselves in Weber’s shoes.

“It’s one of those relationships, I see it often on the show, and you see it in life, where there’s passion, there’s chemistry, but it’s so volatile,” he continued. “And from the outside looking in, you think, ‘What do you do? What are you doing?’ It’s so clear.”

Harrison concluded with some words of support for the pilot, adding, “You have to give Peter a little bit of a wide berth. You know, this is the craziest thing. We’ve all—we all do stuff like this.”

It’s comforting to know that Harrison has been there, done that. The Bachelor airs on Mondays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
