Cinemark Holdings boosts dividend by 19 percent

PLANO, Texas (AP) -- Movie theater owner Cinemark is increasing its quarterly dividend by 19 percent to 25 cents per share from 21 cents per share.

The company said Thursday that the dividend will be paid on Sept. 12 to shareholders of record on Aug. 28.

Last week Cinemark Holdings Inc. reported that its second-quarter net income dropped 61 percent, as expenses related to debt outweighed higher ticket and concession sales.

The Plano, Texas company had 504 theatres with 5,794 screens in 40 U.S. states, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and 10 other Latin American countries, as of June 30.
