Citizens Financial Group, Inc. Reports First Quarter 2022 Net Income of $420 Million and EPS of $0.93

·4 min read

Underlying Net Income of $476 million and EPS of $1.07

PROVIDENCE, R.I., April 19, 2022--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Citizens Financial Group, Inc. (NYSE: CFG or "Citizens") today reported first quarter 2022 financial results. The earnings press release, investor presentation, and financial supplement are available at http://investor.citizensbank.com. In addition, these materials will be furnished to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on a Form 8-K and will be available on the SEC website at www.sec.gov.

"We started off 2022 with solid financial performance, as strong net interest income, good expense discipline and excellent credit helped to offset the macro environment’s impact on Capital Markets and Mortgage revenue," said Chairman and CEO Bruce Van Saun. "We were pleased to close both the HSBC branch and the Investors Bancorp acquisitions, and look forward to building out a strong franchise in the New York City Metro market. Our strategic initiatives are on track, which should drive relative out-performance in the future. During the quarter, we actively managed our balance sheet strategies, and we feel well-positioned to benefit from the market expectations for significant rate rises. Our refreshed guidance demonstrates confidence in our outlook for a strong 2022."

Citizens also announced today that its board of directors declared a second quarter 2022 common stock dividend of $0.39 per share. The dividend is payable on May 17, 2022 to shareholders of record at the close of business on May 3, 2022.
