The Classic White Sneakers That Are Slightly More Adventurous Than Dhani's Other Classic White Sneakers

The vibe is more grandpa than sneakerhead but I'm good with that.

I may write about fashion for a living, but I admittedly don't know a whole lot about sneakers. I don't keep up with the latest drops and am never quite clear on what the cool style/collab/silhouette of the moment is. That said, as a former New Yorker and one of the only Los Angeles residents who actually walks places, I do like to wear sneakers somewhat frequently; I just tend to play it safe with my purchases.

A streamlined, classic silhouette in mostly white has been my go-to just because that feels the most versatile and easy; and I try to avoid styles that feel overly trendy or ubiquitous. (I steered clear of Stan Smiths, for instance.) For a long time, my go-to was a pair of all-white sneakers by French brand Veja, which I still love. But when I felt like I needed to diversify my sneaker game a bit, I browsed Need Supply, whose shoe selection never fails to resonate with me, and found these Reeboks. Technically, my boyfriend, who is a bit of a sneakerhead, bought them for me for my birthday, but only after I asked for them to replace a pair of actually-cool sneakers he bought me first (that I didn't like, it was fine though).

They're a little more stylized and retro than what I typically go for, but still subtle enough to "blend in" the way I want them to, without feeling basic. They're less dad shoe, more grandpa shoe. They kind of look like those Kanye West Adidas Calabasas shoes that everyone said looked like Reeboks. They're also super comfortable and, given that they're slightly off-white, can handle a bit of dirt. I'm already thinking about picking up the all-white version.
